FAACT-Pellens Award 2023

On 17.5.2023, the FAACT Pellens Prize 2023 was awarded as part of the graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Economics at the Ruhr University Bochum. Through this prize, established by Prof. Dr. Bernhard Pellens through the establishment of the Bernhard Pellens Foundation at the end of 2019, outstanding master's theses and dissertations in the field of controlling, accounting, auditing, taxation or corporate finance are awarded, which are characterized by a high practical relevance in problem definition and result. The prize is open to students of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and students of other universities if they were supervised by university professors who were academically trained at the Institute of Corporate Management.

The selection of the work to be awarded is made - on the suggestion of the Institute for Corporate Management (ifu) of the Ruhr University Bochum - by the board of the Alwin Reemtsma Foundation, which includes the Chancellor of the Ruhr University.

This year's FAACT Pellens Prize was awarded to Ms. Anna Nowotsch for her outstanding master's thesis on "The need for information in capital markets - an empirical analysis of conference calls", which was supervised by Prof. Dr. Stephan Paul and received the highest grade. The award was presented by the Chancellor of the Ruhr University Bochum, Dr. Christina Reinhardt.

After her Master's degree at the RUB (Master of Science in Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Controlling & Taxation) in October 2022, Ms. Nowotsch will work as a research assistant at the Chair of Finance and Credit Economics (Chair holder: Prof. Dr. Stephan Paul).
